Time To Celebrate!!

I actually have a bunch of things to celebrate this week beyond just New Years. The first thing that comes to mind is the email I got this morning from Marit, our Editor-in-Chief of FEATURING magazine. She was thrilled to announce that issue 3 (that had to be reprinted due to a major printing error) is ready to be shipped out to our customers on Monday. I can't wait to have a copy in my hands, it's going to be the best issue yet!

The second thing I have to celebrate is my third Blogoversary!! I can't believe I've been blogging for three years. I started this journey thinking that blogging would support my art but that it would be somewhat of a chore. What I found was that I actually loved writing and I cherished the people and artists I met along the way. This blog is what led me to write for FEATURING. What a great gig to get from a little ole' blog. I happily start my third year and look forward to meeting even more people, getting to know more artists and making friends out of acquaintances.

My third celebration is my piece of art for this week's theme, our first APR of 2013. I "celebrate" my friend Ellen with the rose I made her this Christmas. It was a birthday present that I let her choose, I'd paint her anything she wanted. She chose a macro rose and here's Ellen's Rose in all it's glory. I hope it makes her feel special because she is.

Title: Ellen's Rose
Thanks for stopping by, I'll see you tomorrow with an all new theme for The Artist's Play Room. I'm so excited to be hosting this weekly challenge again this year. It was a great addition to my blog last year, long may it run.

Best,

  4. Happy Blogoversary to you!
The rose painting is exquisite Jenn,
I can almost smell it's perfume.
What a lucky lady Ellen is to have you spoil her but then I'm reckoning she's a good friend and that she probably spoils you too ;D

  7. Why am I slow on the intake here? I missed entirely that you posted MYYYYYY glorious rose. I thought of naming her simply "Jenn" but somehow "Nanaimo" fits her just as well. It is beautiful, Jenn. I want to take her to get framed soon but for now, I want to enjoy her simply in the center of my desk. Do you mind? I love her!

Now, friends, let me tell you how else I am spoiled. Jenn also crochets, who knew? A woman of many talents! And so she crocheted a blanket for me. It is in my living room where I use it every day, hours at a time, and I think of how lucky I am to have found a wonderful friend!

I am truly blessed, by your love, Jenn.

    Fondly,
