A Quick Wednesday Post...

I wanted to try drawing out a pattern for a bookmark and there was also this challenge up on Inspiration Avenue. The challenge this Wednesday was to use or make a Damask pattern. Here's some info on Damask fabric:
Damasks used one of the five basic weaving techniques of the Byzantine and Islamic weaving centers of the early Middle Ages, and derive their name from the city of Damascus. It is a rich patterned reversible fabric of cotton, linen, silk, or wool. Most damasks are woven in a single color, with a glossy warp-faced satin pattern against a duller ground. Two-colour damasks have contrasting colour warps and wefts.

I decided, after perusing Google images for a few minutes, to do a floral damask pattern. Here's what I came up with. I used pen & ink then added watercolor to it, adding high and low lights and some extra shading to bring out the drawing. I then inked it again, as watercolors dull the lines. I love how it turned out and it is now on sale in my Etsy store for $7.50. I would love it if some of you would go take a look at my store, I'm kinda proud of it. :o)

I'm crossing my fingers that my hand-made bookmarks quickly find happy homes in new customers' books. Oh, and here's a preview... It's my Blogoversary tomorrow and I'm having a giveaway for a couple of my bookmarks! So, please come back tomorrow and sign up to possibly win. Bring your favorite book quote, you'll need it, hehehe. ;o)

I hope to see you all tomorrow! I'll bring snacks. It'll be a party. There'll be decorations. What fun!
Until tomorrow...
Best,
