A Little Extra For Tuesday...

I was toodling around the internet this morning, putting off all the work I have to complete today, when I came across two interesting things. I thought I'd share. The first is called "The Blog Guidebook". This is an internet resource where you can list your blog in certain categories for more exposure. If you're like me, you want to get your blog out there for the public to (hopefully) find. This looks like a good place to drop a link. They also have some inexpensive promotion options. (I'd be totally on top of if I weren't a starving artist, for serious!)

The second thing I cam across actually made me cry and I'm totally participating in it right away!! It's called "The Butterfly Project". The Holocaust Museum in Houston is doing an amazing thing. They have set up a goal to collect 1.5 million handmade butterflies (in any form, painting, collage, sketch etc.) from around the world by December 31st, 2012. Each butterfly represents one of the 1.5 million children who perished in the Holocaust. In the Spring of 2014 an exhibit will be installed in the museum to serve as a memory of the children. Isn't that so tragically sad but such a beautiful tribute? They chose butterflies because of the following poem.

I Never Saw Another Butterfly
The last, the very last,
So richly, brightly, dazzlingly yellow
Perhaps if the sun’s tears would sing against a white stone....

Such, such a yellow Is carried lightly ’way up high. It went away I’m sure because it wished to kiss the world good-bye.

For seven weeks I’ve lived in here Penned up inside this ghetto. But I have found what I love here. The dandelions call to me And the white chestnut branches in the court.

Only I never saw another butterfly. That butterfly was the last one. Butterflies don’t live in here, in the ghetto.

I wish I lived in Houston so I could visit the museum and the exhibit in 2014. Maybe I'll plan a road trip. If you'd like to display my "Butterfly Project" button, please feel free to grab it on the right sidebar. Hopefully many more artists and crafters will see this wonderful project and want to contribute a butterfly.

Have a lovely day, all, and remember to please love one another. We can use all the love we can get.
Best,
