Inspired By Words
I LOVE this theme! My mind whirled with all the possibilities. I have many favorite quotes, here's a few...
"It is a far, far better than than I have ever done, it is a far, far better place that I go to than I have ever known"
~A Tale Of Two Cities
"Women and Cats will do as they please, Men and Dogs should relax and get used to the idea."
~ Robert Heinlien
"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.
~Albert Einstein
"I'm selfish, impatient & a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control & at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best."
~Marilyn Monroe
"To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all.
~Oscar Wilde

This weekend I made an abstract piece of art with colorful "ribbons" swirling over a black background. When I learned of Diane's theme for this week in IA I knew just what quote I'd add to my artwork. Here's the digitally altered piece (the first I've ever done).
This piece will be entered into:
- Inspiration Avenue's "Inspired by Words" challenge
- Inspire Me Monday
- So Artful "Rainbow" Challenge
I'll talk to you all very soon,
Enjoy your week,
Best,

That's a beautiful piece and a great quote! When I was in high school, I collected quotes in spiral notebooks--mostly to reread, reflect & just genuinely enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI agree - I have pages and pages of quotes - they just make me happy! or thoughtful, or laugh... Does that mean I don't have an original thought in my head????
ReplyDeleteLove your artwork - you really got a jump on it this week! Will have to sort through my quotes and see what inspires me....I love your pears and leaves by the way...looking forward to seeing them done.
I particularly like the way your black background holds all of the colors in place, making them look more intense than they actually are. This was a technique Matisse used with equal success. Nice job.
ReplyDeleteI have a little sketchbook that I keep all the quotes in that I like... I am adding that Matisse one Jenn... it is awesome... I love that you used black because it makes the other colours pop... great work...xx
ReplyDeleteI really like your swirly abstract pieces Jenn! I agree - those flowing ribbons of pure colour really "pop" against the black. I may be completely off the mark here but it makes me think a little of Munch's "Scream" painting for some reason, something in the composition maybe?
ReplyDeleteGorgeous and very suitable quote - I'm also an enthusiastic quote-collector, but I'd not heard that one, or the Marilyn Monroe one, before, more to add to my collection!
Love the swirly piece and every one of the quotes! :)
ReplyDeleteOh Jenn this is wonderful!! I love all the color and movement! and it perfectly encompasses the quote by Matisse! I love your post as well! you write so beautifully, Write BOOKS and get rich or at least be my ghost writer!! :D
ReplyDeleteBig Hugs dear friend! :)
Love the color, movement and depth of your piece! Great quote, too!
ReplyDeleteI'm so attracted to the saturated colors you used.
ReplyDeleteDarla
This is a perfect example of movement. I was trying to come up with ideas for my Design Principles and this was the PERFECT example. I love abstract, too.
ReplyDeleteI Love your quote and your art piece. Perfect marriage of the two!
ReplyDeleteI love quotes and I enjoyed reading all of yours! Perfect submission for words!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful image and wonderful quote!
