- I'm a watercolor & mixed media artist who blogs about her adventure in paint. I also love to read so there's always a book or paintbrush in my hand. Hopefully my work speaks to you, makes you feel something. That would make me very happy indeed. Visit my Flickr account to see all my artwork. http://www.JenniferMcLean.com

It's nice to finally see you at an IA challenge, Jenn. I really like your art, and am glad you chose to join in the fun this week. I really admire how well you draw. This is a very textural drawing that makes me just want to reach out and play with it! Lovely.
ReplyDeleteJennifer:
ReplyDeleteYour ball of string shows much skill. I can feel the texture. I think you fulfilled the assignment admirably.
Yay! Glad you're playing this week, Jenn! Wow, I think it must be difficult to create texture in a drawing. No paint or other mediums to build up the surface... You did an amazing job! I can "feel" the roughness of the twine :)
ReplyDeleteAwww, maggie, you flatter me. Thanks so much for the effusive compliments. It took me almost the whole week to get the confidence to even pick a subject. Then I found I loved the effect I was achieving so I did several more subjects! Hey, I discovered I can really sketch! Hehehe.
DeleteGreat sketch, very intricate and shows your skill! <3
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Ann. What a nice thing to say, it certainly was illuminating. I guess I have to work on my confidence in this sketching thing!
DeleteKeep up the good work! You've made me want to check out Inspiration Avenue! Maybe I'll join you there! :D
ReplyDeleteTHanks Lisa, it was a fun draw. You'll love IA , the challenges are weekly and fun to do!
Deletewow! this is wonderful Jenn! You captured texture beautifully & are an amazing artist! You have to put it up in your etsy shop! Terrific drawing!:D
ReplyDeleteThanks Dianne,
DeleteI was thinking of doing several sketches (I did another last night of a pine cone) and offering them as cards after printing them up either myself or with moo.com. I also thought the originals could be either postcards in a sleeve or see through envelope or just offer them as mini art. Do you find your ACEO's sell? Thanks for the compliments, sweetie! I'm making my way over to IA soon, slogging my way through email!
Keep Rolling girl, your ball of string is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteGreat texture on the paper and in the subject matter as well. Very cool!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant drawing - well done you for facing the fear. I find, if I'm not careful, fear can zap huge amounts of my time and energy that could've been spent on creating art or writing. Sometimes I conquer these fears and create with freedom and happiness. But there are days when these fears have me convinced that its not worth me even starting. That's why I try and encourage people to create with no expectations and just for the joy of it as often as they can. For me it helps me to know that I can create the worst piece of art or piece of writing and it won't matter. That its not always the end result but the act of creating that brings joy. But like I said - those fear demons can interfere some days :-)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy being part of the IA team. They are a fab bunch to work with and befriend.
Kat :-)
I saw the topic was texture... thought about all the hard work involved and poured a glass of wine instead... your ball of twine is awesome... think you did enough hard work there for both of us...xx
