New Mr. Linky Follower Tool!

The rumors are true, GOOGLE is discontinuing Google Friend Connect this March for all platforms except Blogger. It is also a strong rumor that they will also cancel GFC for Blogger by the end of this year. I decided to change over sooner rather than later and luckily I came across a NEW Follower Tool! Mr. Linky is a wonderful brand that has become invaluable to those who blog. The original Mr. Linky Magical Widgets allows bloggers to do Blog Hops easily. Behind the Mr. Linky brand is a real man (Brent Riggs) who isn't using or selling the private information collected from his tools, unlike Google, Facebook, Twitter etc. I didn't want ANOTHER tool that would use my information all over the web.

It annoys me that when I go to GOOGLE sites, specific ads pop up based on what I've been searching for. For instance, I was really sick last year and ended up in the hospital for a week, then back in three more times for blood/electrolyte transfusions. (Don't worry, I'm muuuuch better now, thank you for caring!) Because of this, my hair started falling out in clumps this month (it's just a reaction to the physical stress my illness put upon my body). Anyway, I digress... What annoys me about what Google is doing by "connecting" us all is now EVERY time I go to a Google connected website I see adds for Viviscal, (Viviscal is a pill I take twice a day that promotes new healthy hair growth and it REALLY works, no side effects, it's herbal). This begs the question... what if you'd searched the web for vaginal lubricants, or itch cream or, GOD FORBID, some weird sex toy you heard about (and was curious enough to Google it)??!? Just THINK what could pop up in the ads every time you inadvertently go to a Google connected site!!! This is NOT GOOD. (Sorry about the visuals, but I was trying to make a point.)

This dilemma brought me to Brent's NEW Mr. Linky Follower Tool. It has been Beta tested and was launched on Feb 1, 2012. I am one of the first users of this new tool and I'm THRILLED to use it. It's easy to sign up, you just follow his clear instructions. You don't need a blog to sign up either. It allows you to choose what you want people to see when someone mouses-over your picture! It's got some very cool features and I can't wait to have it fill up with my new friends and followers of this blog.

So, PLEASE, for me, please sign up with my New Follower Tool. I think it's gonna be BIG, specifically because Brent Riggs isn't going to do what those huge companies are doing. He's just one smart tool building man who actually answers his own mail (I know this because I emailed him twice so far, he's such a cool guy, and funny too!) So, let me say THANK YOU, Mr. Linky. I your products and I hope you make more. (I also intend to tell EVERYONE who will listen about it, in every comment, conversation, emial and blog post. Mr. Linky Follower Tool will take over the web within the month, lol, I'm on the job!)
I'll be back soon with new art. Sorry there hasn't been much for the past few days, I've had a touch of the stomach flu which makes painting really hard to concentrate on. :o) I love you all, thanks for re-signing up. I truly appreciate your taking the time to do it.

Best,

  1. I'm still laughing over "some weird sex toy you heard about"! Haha!

I am equally annoyed over this advertising crap, though. Hate that facebook does it, also. Seriously people, you do not know our minds by a few searches we've done in the past! Key word here is "past".

Really enjoyed hearing about Mr. Linky Tool and will check out now. Thanks, Jenn for the informative and entertaining post! x

  2. Hmm it seems like your blog ate my first comment (it was super long) so I guess I'll just sum it up what I wrote and say, I'm thoroughly enjoying your blog. I too am an aspiring blog blogger but I'm still new to the whole thing. Do you have any suggestions for novice blog writers? I'd genuinely appreciate it.

  6. Jennifer--thanks for helping to get the word out but I do need to tell you that Mr. Linky is a completely different site than Linky Tools (formerly McLinky). I just didn't want people getting confused.

    I followed you back.

  10. My husband and I had several miscarriages, and I had googled information regarding my reproductive health, miscarriage grief groups etc... and then got the lovely reminders from google ads on a daily basis. IT made life *so much fun*
    sigh.
    ugh.

  11. I like this new option. I really am not happy with G+, and do feel that GFC is now an outdated option even for us on Blogger. I have signed up, and have the widget on my blog.

  12. Thanks for the info. I have a typepad blog and was never able to figure out GFC. So maybe I'll be able to use this linky on my blog.
