Pucker Up!

I can say, this painting was the most involved on of all. It's all the leaves that take so much darn time! I'm totally thrilled with how it turned out, though. I can't believe how much my painting has grown since the last time I did a lot of leaves.

I continue to fight against myself as I paint. I find I'm being too tentative with color, especially with highlights and shadows. I am so afraid I'll make a mistake that I question my natural instincts to use a certain color or depth of color. I'll go and use a much lighter version then have to go over and over it to darken it sufficiently. This increases both the time it takes to paint a painting and the frustration level I feel while painting anything.

The next couple of posts are the final pages of my sketchbook. This was the last of the paintings. See you soon!
